2024 Weary Scholarship Recipients Named

The Mid-America Cable Telecommunications Association (MACTA) has named three recipients of the 2024 Weary Scholarship.

Tadan Fikan (S & T Communications, Kansas), Olivia Holz (Three River Digital, Nebraksa) and Kai King (Cimtel Telephone, Illinois) each received a $3,000 scholarship. Scholarships are awarded annually to help deserving, academically oriented students further their college education. The scholarship is open to telecommunications industry employees, their spouses and children in the MACTA region.

The Weary Scholarship was established in 1989 to honor cable industry leader and entrepreneur Robert K. Weary. Prior to his death in 2001, Weary served as a director of the National Cable Television Association, president of the Mid-America Cable Television Association, president of the Kansas Cable Television Association and a board member of the National Cable Television Cooperative. His leadership and vision impacted many in the industry.

The Mid-America Cable Telecommunications Association is an industry association formed in 1958 to help telecommunication providers promote technical excellence, superior customer service, exemplary marketing and student scholarship. It includes cable telecommunications system operators in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa, Arkansas and Texas.
